This tour departs from Kuala Lumpur and travels across the Malay Peninsula to Penang, passing Cameron Highlands and the Belum Rainforest. A complete tour that offers the essence of Malaysia: nature, colonial heritage and good food. Once in Penang, it is also possible to continue on to other destinations… the discovery has just begun!

Remarks
– If you choose the option with no guide, please note that the English-speaking driver will just brief you about the sites to visit, but will not be accompanying you during the tour, you will be on your own.
– The tea factory is closed on Monday and public holidays (and also on Tuesday if the preceding Monday is a public holiday).
– The visit to the orang-utan island is not guaranteed due to the fluctuation of the water level at Lake Merah.

At 8.30 – 9.00 am, pick-up at the hotel lobby and departure for Cameron Highlands. Drive through a scenic mountain jungle road and stop at a small Orang Asli (native population) dwelling on the way. Upon arrival at Cameron Highlands, visit the tea plantation and afterwards check in at the hotel. Overnight in Cameron Highlands on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Accommodation at the 4* Strawberry Park Resort, or at similar 4-star.

At 8.30 – 9.00 am, we will head Bukit Merah Orang Utan Foundation Island, the only orang-utan research facility in Peninsular Malaysia. A boat ride of 20 minutes on the lake will take us to the island. This unique island serves as a breeding sanctuary as well as a conservation, research and education centre to study and protect this endangered species. From Bukit Merah, we will drive for about one hour to the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, where we will visit the Ubudiah Mosque. From there, we will continue towards Belum Rainforest Reserve, located near the border with Thailand. The journey will take about 3 hours. Upon arrival we’ll check in at the nature lodge of Belum. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Overnight in Belum on a half-board basis. Accommodation at the 3* Belum Rainforest Resort, or at similar 3-star.

At 9.00 am, we will start our tour with two hours and a half excursion of Belum Forest. A wonderful dive into the fauna and flora of the reserve -one of the oldest and most pristine rainforests in Malaysia. A light packed lunch is included during the excursion. At 1.00 pm, we will return to the resort to check-out. At 2.00 pm, we’ll take the road to Penang. Upon arrival on the island, we will check in at the hotel where we’ll spend the night. Overnight in Penang on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Accommodation at the 4* Royale Chulan, or at similar 4-star.

At 9.30 am, we will start our full day tour of Penang. The visit includes: Kek Lok Si Temple, Botanical Gardens, Thai Temple of the Reclining Buddha, the Burmese Temple, the colonial district around Esplanade area, Khoo Kongsi, a beautiful Chinese Clan House and a walking tour to Armenian Street to observe the modern murals. At the end of our tour, we will return to the hotel. Lunch is not included. Overnight in Penang on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Accommodation at the 4* Royale Chulan, or at similar 4-star.

After your last hotel breakfast (included), transfer to the Penang International Airport or to the Jetty (port) for your departure by flight or ferry.
